ABOUT ME

I am a composer, teacher and pianist. After graduating with First Class Honours from Goldsmiths, I graduated with a Composition for Screen master's degree at the Royal College of Music in London. I started learning the piano at a young age and have a classical and jazz background.

My body of work includes a DNA-inspired soundscape at the Eden Project, work for Morgan Pochin Music Productions, music for apps, documentaries, short films and contemporary dance projects.

If you are interested in starting piano lessons, click on the TEACHING tab above for more information. I hold a PGCE in Secondary Music and teach part-time in schools, as well as privately.

'Jack provided us with a thoughtfully composed soundtrack to our performative, interactive show. He was professional, creative and imaginative and worked collaboratively to ensure our performance was a success. His talent as a sound designer allowed him to create vivid soundscapes and compose original music to bring the production to life. We would happily work with Jack again.'

Nnenna Samson, Head of Youth Programmes and Outreach at S.P.I.D. Theatre Company

''Dad' by Jack Hurst was a particularly poignant way of introducing the evening's charity, Sage House and Dementia Support.'

Gary Shipton in the Chichester Observer

'Just had a chance to properly sit down and listen to the tracks you made with the score in front of me and wow are we in for a treat! Really beautiful writing!'

Jonathan Kilhams, Musical Director of Walton Voices

‘Jack made an invaluable contribution to this project; he has an excellent pair of ears and has a detailed understanding of orchestration which includes mainstream classical and more commercial forces.’

Juliette Pochin, Morgan Pochin Music Productions

‘Thank you so much for all your input and hard work and, of course, the amazing music.’

Jo Elworthy, Director of Interpretation at the Eden Project

‘This is absolutely beautiful. I like the dreamy echoes and reverb. It’s like being in a beautiful cocoon and aids the digestion of the voices. I’m genuinely delighted with what you have created thus far.’

Laura Mitchison, On the Record

‘Big thanks to Jack for such an evocative set of piano parts [...] they work really well with the personal stories.’

Simon Poulter, Curator of NetPark, Southend-on-Sea
